Delhi High Court has dismissed the appeal of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal against his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma affirmed the legality of the arrest, citing Kejriwal’s purported involvement in the “use and concealment of proceeds of crime.”
The court rejected Kejriwal’s plea, endorsing the alleged conspiracy attributed to him. Following his appearance in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court on April 1, Kejriwal was remanded to judicial custody in connection with the case.”
ANI quoted agencies as saying that unhappy with the decision, Kejriwal may approach the Supreme Court.
“ED was able to place enough material in the shape of ‘Hawala’ material, and statements of approver that he was given money in cash for Goa elections. Money was sent in cash for the Goa elections. The arrest is not in contravention of law, remand cannot be termed illegal,”
