Zoho launches ‘Zoho Pay’ to challenge Google Pay and PhonePe

Zoho Corporation is making a strategic push into India’s consumer payments space with the launch of Zoho Pay, its new UPI-based payments app. Designed to rival established platforms like Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm, Zoho Pay enables users to make peer-to-peer transfers, pay bills, and perform seamless digital transactions.

A unique feature of Zoho Pay is its integration with Arattai, Zoho’s messaging platform, allowing users to send and receive money directly within the chat interface. Currently rolling out in phases across India, Zoho Pay aims to attract both individual users and small businesses already using Zoho’s suite of tools.

Competitive Landscape

Zoho Pay enters a market dominated by Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm. Its primary advantage lies in integration with Zoho’s ecosystem, offering businesses and users a single platform for payments, communication, and workflow management. Meanwhile, platforms like Vani and Arattai put Zoho in direct competition with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and WhatsApp, emphasizing Zoho’s ambition to challenge global tech giants across multiple sectors.

With these launches, Zoho is positioning itself as a comprehensive provider of business and consumer solutions, strengthening its footprint in fintech, AI-driven productivity, and digital collaboration.

Market Opportunity

India’s digital payments market continues to grow rapidly, with UPI transactions crossing 10 billion in 2025. This growth presents a significant opportunity for new entrants like Zoho Pay. Its integration with Zoho’s existing apps positions it uniquely to attract small businesses and existing Zoho users who prefer an all-in-one ecosystem for business and personal finance.
